How to use

Generate a sales-ready coating proposal draft from area, substrate, deterioration, target durability, and finish gloss.

  1. Choose the unit system and enter the area.
  2. Select the substrate, deterioration level, target durability, and finish gloss.
  3. Open advanced settings if you need project scope, exposure, tone, or quantity policy changes.
  4. Review the draft, then copy the result or share the URL with the current state.
Example cases

Input

Exterior mortar repaint

Input 120 m² / exterior / mortar / moderate deterioration / 10 years / satin

Output Work items: protection, washing, crack repair, primer, finish coat x2, and cleanup. Estimated quantities: primer about 14.2 L, finish coat about 28.4 L, repair area about 8.4 m².

Steel maintenance coating

Input 80 ft² / steel / rust / 7 years / semi-gloss

Output Work items: protection, degreasing, rust treatment, sanding, primer, finish coat x2, and cleanup. Estimated quantities: primer about 1.3 gal, finish coat about 2.6 gal, repair area about 9 ft².

Formulas

  • Paint quantity = area × coat count ÷ reference coverage × safety allowance
  • Repair area = area × deterioration ratio
  • Balanced quantity policy adds a smaller allowance than conservative policy
  • Draft quantities are rounded up for sales use and must be rechecked on site

FAQ

Can I use this output directly in an estimate?

Use it as a draft. Final quantities, pricing, code compliance, and site conditions still need to be checked before release.

Does the same logic work in other languages?

Yes. The page is translated per language, but the calculation and draft rules stay the same.

Can it handle steel and wood surfaces?

Yes. The draft changes the prep items, exclusions, and quantity assumptions based on the selected substrate.

Are the quantities exact purchase quantities?

No. They are sales-oriented estimates. Confirm the final order quantities against product specifications and waste allowances.

Does it support both m² and ft²?

Yes. Switch the unit system and the area and coating quantities will follow that system.

Notice

  • This tool creates a sales draft, not a final estimate.
  • Asbestos, lead, solvents, scaffolding, waste disposal, and legal requirements must be checked separately.
  • Color, gloss, film build, warranty, and final system selection depend on the manufacturer and site conditions.
  • Confirm the print layout in Chrome, Edge, and Safari before using it in customer-facing documents.
