Density conversion tool: mass ↔ volume (coefficient temperature correction)
Convert mass and volume using density. Optional temperature correction uses a simple coefficient method.
Select units, see formulas, and share results by URL.

Temperature correction (optional)
- This is a coefficient-based approximation, not a full physical property model.
- Coefficients depend on the material.
Density mass volume conversion basics
The core relationships are V = m / ρ and m = V × ρ. Converting to common base units (kg, L) keeps calculations consistent.
kg to L conversion and unit selection
Choose mass units (kg, g, lb) and volume units (L, mL, m³, gal US). The tool converts internally and shows results in your preferred units.
Temperature correction with density coefficients
Optional correction uses ρ(T) = ρref / (1 + α (T - Tref)). This is a small-range approximation and not a full property model.
Density changes with temperature.
This tool offers an optional coefficient-based correction and does not use full property models. For precise work, refer to manufacturer data or handbooks.
What units are supported?
Density supports kg/L, g/mL, kg/m³, g/cm³, lb/gal (US), lb/ft³. Mass and volume units are selectable as well.
Can I calculate multiple rows?
Yes. Use the batch tab to paste TSV/CSV data and export results as TSV or CSV.
What if I do not know the density?
The tool does not estimate density from material names. Refer to specs, SDS, or manufacturer data.
- For regulated or contractual use, refer to validated property data.
- Temperature correction is an approximation and may introduce errors for wide temperature ranges or non-linear materials.
