How to measure in the field (simple steps)
  1. Measure speed: drive a fixed distance at steady throttle and compute speed from time (or use average meter value).
  2. Check spray width: effective spray width (boom effective width or nozzle spacing × count).
  3. Measure flow (recommended): at normal working pressure, measure 1-minute discharge (total or average of several nozzles).

  • Spray rate = flow ÷ (speed × width), converted to area units

gal/acre = (495 × flow [gal/min]) / (speed [mph] × width [ft])
