In-browser work log

Logging Productivity Calculator

Use one page to turn work logs into productivity, cost, and quote figures for forestry jobs.

Enter felled tree counts, skidding distance, work hours, machine hours, and fuel use, then keep currency and rate settings local to each market.

Calculate m³/person-day and m³/machine-hour from daily work logs.
Keep currency, wage, fuel, and machine rates in local settings.
Copy CSV or a shareable URL for reports, budgets, and quotes.
Logging Productivity Calculator

Enter one or more work blocks and compare productivity, cost, and quote values on one screen.

All inputs stay in this browser and are never sent to a server.
This calculator is for estimates and comparisons. It does not replace payroll, accounting, or safety procedures.
Use one consistent unit system per run and verify local assumptions before you share or invoice the result.
Shared URLs can contain local rates and other sensitive cost assumptions, so keep the sharing scope narrow when needed.

Safety notice

  • Use this for planning and reporting, not as a substitute for site safety rules or supervisor instructions.
  • Check local wage, fuel, and machine assumptions before you use the result for a quote or budget.
  • Keep one unit system per run so every row stays comparable.

How to use

  1. Choose the distance and fuel units, then set your local currency and rate defaults.
  2. Enter one or more work rows. You can calculate volume from tree count × average volume or enter direct volume.
  3. Review productivity, costs, and a quote estimate, then export CSV or copy the shareable URL when you need to share it.
  4. If you work in multiple markets, change only the local settings and keep the same calculation pattern.

Examples

Count-based block with local currency

Input

120 felled trees × 0.18 m³/tree, 180 m skidding distance, 4 workers, 7.5 work hours, 6 machine hours, 30 L fuel, JPY local settings, 10% markup

Output

About 21.6 m³ total, 5.76 m³/person-day, 3.60 m³/machine-hour, direct cost JPY 154,950, quote JPY 170,445

Imperial job with direct volume

Input

12 m³ direct volume, 0.25 mi skidding distance, 3 workers, 8:00 work hours, 4:00 machine hours, 18 US gal fuel, USD local settings, 10% markup

Output

About 12.0 m³ total, 4.00 m³/person-day, 3.00 m³/machine-hour, direct cost USD 1,190.92, quote USD 1,310.01

Target-volume estimate

Input

50 m³ direct volume, 250 m skidding distance, 5 workers, 8 work hours, 7 machine hours, 48 L fuel, JPY local settings, 10% markup, 50 m³ target

Output

About 50.0 m³ total, 10.00 m³/person-day, 7.14 m³/machine-hour, direct cost JPY 201,280, quote JPY 221,408

FAQ

Can I mix tree-count rows and direct-volume rows?

Yes. Use count-based rows when you want the tool to calculate volume from tree count and average volume, and switch to direct volume when you already know the volume.

How is m³/person-day calculated?

The tool divides total volume by total person-days, where person-days equals crew count × work hours ÷ standard workday hours.

Do I need to enter every rate to use the tool?

No. You can use it for productivity only, but you need wage, machine, and fuel rates to show direct cost and quote outputs.

Can I use local currencies and fuel units?

Yes. Enter the local currency code you use in your market and choose liters, US gallons, or imperial gallons for fuel.

Does the share URL send data to a server?

No. The state is encoded into the URL so you can copy and share it, but nothing is uploaded by this page itself.

Glossary

Felled tree count

The number of trees cut in a work block.

Skidding distance

The average distance for moving felled wood to the landing or collection point.

Person-day

Crew hours converted into day-equivalent labor using your standard workday length.

Machine hour

One hour of machine operation used for productivity and cost calculation.

Fuel intensity

Fuel consumption per cubic meter of wood, usually shown as L/m³.

Markup

The percentage added on top of direct cost when turning a result into a quote.

Formulas

  • volume = felledTreeCount × avgTreeVolume
  • personDays = crewCount × workHours ÷ standardWorkdayHours
  • m³/person-day = totalVolume ÷ totalPersonDays
  • m³/machine-hour = totalVolume ÷ totalMachineHours
  • fuelIntensity = totalFuelLiters ÷ totalVolume
  • quote = directCost × (1 + markupRate ÷ 100)

Important notes

  • This calculator is for estimates and comparisons. It does not replace payroll, accounting, or safety procedures.
  • Use one consistent unit system per run and verify local assumptions before you share or invoice the result.
  • Shared URLs can contain local rates and other sensitive cost assumptions, so keep the sharing scope narrow when needed.
