Tile & Flooring Layout Calculator

Field adjustment is required in real projects due to cut-ins, wall unevenness, movement joints, and trim conditions.

How To Use

  1. Room dimensions, material dimensions ಮತ್ತು joint width ನಮೂದಿಸಿ.
  5. Copy the share URL to discuss the same layout conditions with site members or clients.

Samples

600x300 tile, 3 mm joint

Input: Room 5400x3600 mm, tile 600x300 mm, direction = long side along room length, offset = centered

Output: Compare count, waste rate, and minimum cut across options A/B/C, then inspect cut positions

1818x303 flooring, 0 joint

Input: Room 4550x2730 mm, material 1818x303 mm, offset = one-side flush (left-bottom origin)

Output: Check offcut location for flush layout and whether minimum-cut threshold is violated

Formulas

  • P_x = TileX + J, P_y = TileY + J
  • Flush: N = ceil((Room + J) / (Tile + J)), CutEnd = Room - (N - 1) * (Tile + J)
  • Centered: Cut = (Room - (N - 2) * Tile - (N - 1) * J) / 2
  • TotalTiles = N_x * N_y
  • WasteRate = (A_buy - A_used) / A_buy

FAQ

Is waste rate equal to real on-site discard?

Not always. If offcuts can be reused in other rows, actual discard can be lower than this estimate.

Why is field adjustment still necessary?

Cut-ins, wall irregularities, trim positions, and movement-joint requirements cannot be fully fixed by simple geometric calculation alone.

Can I enter room dimensions in meters?

Yes. Inputs can be in m or mm, and internal calculation is unified in mm.

Notes

  • This tool is a rough layout estimator. Do not use it as final installation dimensions.
  • Waste rate is a conservative estimate that assumes no offcut reuse. Real discard can be lower.
  • Cut-ins, wall unevenness, trim positions, and movement joints must be confirmed on site.
