    Notes & tips

    What is OGP?

OGP (Open Graph Protocol) lets social platforms read your page title, description, and image.

By setting og:title/og:description/og:image, you can control how shared links appear.

Twitter Cards (X) use similar metadata and can fall back to OG tags.

Image size guidance (to stabilize previews)

    Meta (Facebook) guidance
    • • Minimum 200×200.
    • • For better display, 1200×630 or larger; at least 600×315 is referenced. (Facebook Developers)
    • • A ratio close to 1.91:1 helps avoid cropping (approximate, not strict).
    • • File size guidance includes 8MB or less.
    X (Twitter) card guidance
    • • summary_large_image supports 2:1 ratio; minimum 300×157, max 4096×4096. (X Developer)
    • • File size under 5MB and common formats (JPG/PNG/WEBP/GIF) are referenced.

When changes don’t show up (cache & re-fetch)

    • • SNS crawlers cache OG data. Use each platform’s debugger/inspector to re-fetch. (Facebook Developers)
    • • If you replaced the image but it won’t update, the image URL itself may be cached; change the filename or add a query string.
    • • Adding og:image:width/height can improve render stability. (Facebook Developers)

    Include Twitter Card tags too?

Yes. twitter:card and related tags can be generated together. X can fall back to OG tags, so minimal setups still work. (X Developer)

    Recommended image size?

As a guide, Meta suggests 1200×630 or larger (minimum 600×315) and a ratio close to 1.91:1. X’s summary_large_image has a different ratio and minimums. Choose the target platform.

    Preview doesn’t update

Most often it’s cache. Re-fetch via debuggers/inspectors, and if you changed the image, use a new image URL.
